2010 FIFA WORLD CUP IN SOUTH AFRICA

7 out of 10 Stadiums are equipped with Rain Bird !

The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ will be the biggest sporting event of the year, bringing together 32 teams from around the globe to South Africa between June 11th to July 11th.

To prepare for this event, 10 stadiums were either built or renovated. Having been the irrigation manufacturer of choice for the 2004 European Football Cup Games in Portugal, the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece and the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Rain Bird once again was heavily involved in stadium irrigation projects for the World Cup. Seven out of 10 stadiums are equipped with Rain Bird irrigation solutions, including the main stadium – the Soccer City in Gauteng, which will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final. The second-largest stadium, Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town, is also host to many of the main events and is situated beneath Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain. Rain Bird is also proud to supply the full irrigation solution to this brand new, state-of-the-art, magnificent stadium.
