Rain Bird Enters Wind-Power GenerationRain Bird's turbines feature high quality electric, energy-producing capability; generating between 100,000 and 300,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
Rain Bird has been awarded more than 130
patents, including the first in 1935 for the original horizontal
action impact drive sprinkler (U.S.
Patent #1,997,901), which revolutionized the food production industry
and ushered in a new era in irrigation,
worldwide.
The original impact sprinkler was
designated a historic landmark in 1990 by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.
Today, Rain Bird offers over 4,000 irrigation products and services.
Rain Bird is committed to The Intelligent
Use of Water™.
It is our legacy to design and
manufacture only those products of the highest value and quality.
We work for long-term, responsible
partnerships with our customers and our vendors.
This is who we are, and this is how we
wish to be perceived in the irrigation industry.
And Now …… our innovative step into Renewable Energy.
We ‘originally’ saw the off-setting of
electric energy cost, specifically against the irrigation pumping systems as a
natural progression to the betterment of our services offered.
Our Renewable product range however
perfectly tailors the normal usage of your 18hole, 650 member, irrigated course
to include the electric usage in the clubhouse and its maintenance facilities
thus, encompassing a golf clubs needs protecting against rising costs for the
betterment of golfing communities.
Benefits
• Rain Bird’s 50KW Turbine will in all
probability deliver the same in electricity p.a. as your club uses in a year.
• It gives you a return of 30k+
• How many Green Fees would be needed to
achieve this income?
- How much would you
need to raise member’s subscriptions?
• Its payments are index linked for 20yrs
and guaranteed by the Government through the Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs).
• It can work day and night over 365 days;
so can still be earning for the club outside of golfing hours, winter and
summer; regardless that the weather that might discourage play.
• Its 5m2 of footing will earn more than
the 5m2 of footing in front of the bar; where decisions are generally made or
not…
• The turbine stands 25m high; the size
of an oak tree.
• Rain Bird can deliver a turn-key
project; with help attaining finance.
• Its noise is inaudible 60m away... the
misinformed perception then.
• There are 88,000 pylons and presently
2800 land turbines that can actually deliver to the point of use – this is called
distributed wind.
Production efficiency
Most distributed wind customers
did not select their site for wind resources, but look to generate power from the
wind available to them.
Rain Bird wind turbines
are designed for less-than perfect wind conditions
– The cut in speed is only 3.5 m/s.
Swept Area
The blades capture the energy of the
wind. The larger the rotor diameter, the more wind energy the turbine captures.
The Rain Bird 50kW turbine has a 19m (63 ft) rotor diameter - one of the
largest rotor diameters per rated kW in its class- to capture the most wind
energy.
Motoring
Motoring starts the blades spinning so
the turbine operates in lighter wind conditions than if it relied solely on the
wind to start (3-phase models only).
Generator Type
The induction generator produces
electricity that can be transferred to the power grid without inverters. This
provides lower equipment and maintenance costs and increases overall power
production.
